PLUS Achieves World's Brightest*1 1500 ANSI
Lumens!
In 1.5-kg class
PLUS Announces Launch of U4 Series Digital Projectors
PLUS Vision Corp.
PLUS Vision Corp. (Home office: Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo; President: Eiji Shintaku), Japan's leading manufacturer*2 of Digital Light Processing (DLPTM)*3
projectors will launch its new U4 Series digital projectors in February 2003.
These projectors are the most powerful mobile projectors for business use,
offering a bright 1500 ANSI lumens (1.5 times as bright as same-weight models
in U3 Series) and contrast ratio of 1500:1*4 (twice the contrast), all in a light 1.5-kg package. |
This is the world's brightest model in the 1.5-kg class, offering
brightness in a lightweight, compact package. The mobility that
allows use anytime, anywhere, and smooth, high-resolution images
are expanding the possibilities of the presentation.
Two models will be offered: the real XGA (SXGA-compatible) U4-131
and the real SVGA (XGA-compatible) U4-111.
|
The U4 Series is an upgrade to the U3 Series, the best-selling mobile
projector series boasting over 100,000 cumulative unit sales (since
sales were launched in July 2000). Texas Intruments' next-generation
DMD chip, an updated design, improved optics, and more offer improvements
to every feature. With a portable 1.5-kg size, the U4 Series is
an evolutionary step in total screen visibility and mobility.

 |
Highest brightness in smallest and lightest class
About the size of a hardback novel (W190 x L239 x H53 mm), the U4 Series
weights about 1.5 kg. In addition to using the next-generation
DMD chip, improvements to the color wheel and other optical systems,
a newly designed lamp, and more have boosted the 1000 ANSI lumens
of the existing U3 Series to 1500 ANSI lumens in the U4-131,
making it the world's brightest in the 1.5-kg class. You can even
use the U4-131 without turning down the room lights.
High contrast ratio delivers crisper images
than models with the same brightness
The next-generation DMD chip and improved optics have increased
the black-to-white contrast to 1500:1 (650:1 in the U3 Series).
Ebony blacks and brilliant whites display text and fine drawings
more clearly than low-contrast projectors with the same brightness,
allowing crisp projection of photos and other images with rich
gradations in contrast. The series also offers dramatically improved
image resolution, in order to faithfully reproduce fine color
variations.
Short-focus lens for big-screen presentations
in cramped quarters
Projects big-screen images from short distances, with a built-in
short-focus lens that allows projection of 60" images at 2 meters.
Now you can give effective presentations away from the office,
even when space is limited (U4-131).
Enhanced presentation support functionality
The series offers expanded and enhanced functionality to support
business presentations: Custom logo projection projects the logo
you specify as a startup screen, and Presentation timer lets you
set the presentation time to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60 minutes,
and displays the remaining time on screen. Also included is a
handy, fully functional card-type remote control.
Handy and quiet
A host of other features make the series even more convenient.
Use the projector in tabletop mode, or hang it from the ceiling.
The exhaust port faces forward so that exhaust is not blown at
people, and the built-in sliding lens cap gives ease of mind when
carrying the unit around. The series is also made quieter by moving
the fan to a new location.
Eco-mode provides superb cost performance
The Eco-mode feature allows projection at 80% of normal brightness.
In addition to saving power consumption, this economical feature
also lengthens lamp lifetime.
Built-in DVI terminal interface
The U4 Series is equipped with a built-in DVI terminal supporting
digital signals conforming to the next-generation DVI (digital visual interface)
standard. This allows high-quality digital-to-digital image reproduction.
Support for Hi-Definition (720p, 1080i) broadcasts
Projects a wide variety of content. In addition to support for analog
and digital RGB signals, the U4 Series also supports digital high-definition
broadcasts (connect to DVI-I terminal).

OTHER FEATURES |
Easy Setup Features
 Auto-source:
No need to switch source modes: the projector automatically identifies the source as RGB or
videobefore projection.
 Auto adjustment:
The projector automatically adjusts the phase, clock speed, and resolution of the RGB signal
from the PC.
 Quick-release adjustable feet:
Adjust the image to the proper height with the touch of buttons on the side of the foot adjusters.
 Digital keystone correction:
The projector is preconfigured to project clear images at eye height for normal use, but
compensation is available in case of keystone distortion, when the image appears narrower or
wider at the bottom than at the top.
